When I relocated to Flagstaff from Orlando in Oct., I knew that there was no local chapter of Mensa. What I did not realize was what an important part of my life Mensa had been and how much I would miss the activities and the companionship of my fellow Mensans.
During my 20 year membership in Mensa, I served as Loc. Sec. of Central Florida Mensa three different times, co-chaired 6 0r 7 RG's (I've lost count), created and administered a local scholarship for graduating high school seniors, hosted an annual New Year's Eve party, and acted as Program Chair of the '93 AG.
My return to Orlando for the Heart of Florida RG in February really pointed out just how much I longed for the companionship of Mensans. I had the opportunity to discuss the possibility of trying to start a group in Flagstaff with Dave Remine, who was at the RG.
Following Dave's advice, I called Kent for his input. With his help, I plan to qualify as a Proctor and start a publicity campaign. The purpose of this letter is to notify all Mensans in the Flagstaff area that I will be getting in touch with them to see if there is interest among existing Mensans before I start beating the forest recruiting new members.
