I wasnt the only editor who became incensed at the libelous piece of hate mail that crossed my desk last month (see Mays Editor Column). It seems that several editors received the mailing, and they all feel the same way I do: go bother somebody else. Ive published a couple of the letters I received concerning that, and agree that weve got to stand up against the little evils, or they quickly become big ones.
We have received a healthy response to our offer of advertising in the yearly Directory. Its not too late send those business cards and your checks in to me at the P.O. box or to my home address (on the inside cover). If you want your e-mail address to be published, e-mail that to me. Otherwise (as stated on the last page of this issue) you will go in exactly as last year. Which means if your phone isnt listed last year, it wont be this year either. And so forth. I will be working from the latest listing from American Mensa. If youve got questions about how youre listed, call me.
Depending on how much available time I have, well either publish the Directory in the July or August issue. I will be the one putting it together and Editor Goddess is an unpaid position, so I work on it as I have the time.
This issue carries our local elections. We did get statements from some of the candidates; some are running unopposed, but we do have a healthy field of Member-at-Large candidates. Please vote. If you dont like the way GPM is running, now is the time to have some effect on it.
Next month (because Ive collected enough articles) will be our special CATS issue. If youve got cat tales, cat poems, cat puns, cat drawings, cat photos, or whatever, send them to me. If I get enough on another subject (like dogs) Ill do another special issue, but on the whole, I think most Mensans tend to be cat people. I think its because we recognize intelligence when we see it ...
