Letter: Mark Motta

After reading Robert Pine’s tirade against the endless congratulatory brown-nosing in recent issues, I felt inspired to comment. After years of Mensa membership, I have yet to be a regular event attendee because of their cliquish nature and glaring lack of intellectual stimulation.

Instead of the RG consisting of painting rocks and playing "find the soap" in communal baths, why not schedule sessions worthy of our premium gray matter? And does anyone else find pathetic puns like "Phabulous Phiesta" and "Owlizona" sophomoric? Amateur art direction and blather should not be Mensa hallmarks.

In closing, why schedule the RG for Thanksgiving and February’s forum on Valentine’s Day? How many other members chose to spend these holidays with family instead? I recommend polling membership on these issues and more, to gain insight and generate interest in the coming months, rather than continue to stumble to the beat of a few well-meaning, yet rhythmless, drummers. GPM will be richer for it.
