FAREWELL TO A FRIEND

Most of you may not be aware of this, but Vicki Hurst is leaving us for a new job in South Carolina. She will be leaving by the end of the month (June).
Vicki served GPM as editor for 2 years and did a great job. She has given of herself for the group and is appreciated. She has made many friends within the group and I am sure they will miss her as well.
I will miss her. She is my good friend. On some levels we have been like brother and sister and I appreciate her friendship. We have talked, danced, gone to movies and dinner or lunch together or in a group.

A hearty congratulations to Mensan Mel Anderson and his bride Joan Maness, who were married (or are going to be married, as of this writing) on June 20 in Phoenix. Some of you may have met the lucky lady at a Mensa function, as Mel has brought her to a couple of them. Mazel tov, Mel and Joan!

Fran Van Cleave has written a short story, "Second Chance", that will appear in the September 1997 issue of Analog, the top science fiction magazine in the US. The magazine goes on sale July 15. Nothing like starting at the top, Fran!
The National Awards Committee of American Mensa has honored our own outgoing LocSec, Kent Van Cleve, with a lifetime membership in recognition of his years of volunteer service as Bulletin editor. Congratulations, Van Cleves!
My esteemed Partner For Life in Love and Business, John Seeliger (lapsed Mensa member because AMC can’t find his membership) took top statewide honors on June 11 at the Phoenix Direct Marketing Club. He was named "Direct Marketer of the Year" in addition to winning top state honors for a business-to-business mailing package, and was elected President for the coming year.
