Call For Volunteers

Scan your genes, anybody?

We are a research group at the National Institute of Mental Health, doing a study on genetics of intelligence. Our plan is to get a sufficient number of families who volunteer to have intelligence testing and blood sampling, and then to do systematic genomic scanning. This scan is done with genetic linkage markers, and followed up with examination of any region which appears to show significant linkage.

Members of Mensa offer an ideal group for selection of participants for this study, since there is maximal genetic information derived from a genome scan of persons at the extremes of any quantitative trait, such as intelligence.

We would be grateful if you would bring this study to the attention of the members of Mensa. Information about the study is available at our Web site, http://world.std.com/~neurogen/iqstudy.html

I would be glad to answer any questions by E-mail (elliotg@helix.nih.gov or e7g@cu.nih.gov), by phone (301-496-3465), or by fax (301-402-0859). You or any of the Mensa members are welcome to contact me.

Sincerely yours,
