Letter

I've been wanting to write to you for some time just to let you know how much I am enjoying MAAM! Issues are well done and very interesting reading! Seems the perfect balance between articles of interest (I loved Alan Gore's article!) and news about our local group.

Also...Kudos to the Asst Loc Sec for planning interesting meetings - I am very busy and have a difficult time getting to meetings, but have found a few of the meetings she has planned so interesting, I have to go!

And...Carol is doing a great job on the calendar. It's readable, easy to scan dates and I like the 'month at a glance' feature as well.

To Mark Motta, I feel like asking, what group is he talking about? I have never found GPM to be, as he calls it, "cliquish"; neither do I lack for mental stimulation when I attend MENSA gatherings. I've always found this group to be extremely friendly and lots of fun to be with. Every few years I take on a job (some of the ones I have held in the past are Asst Loc Sec, Circulation chairman, MENSA phone person, etc.) with the excuse that it's my turn to do something for the group. But actually, I've missed close contact with my MENSA friends and do enjoy becoming more active. As far as his complaint about the "pathetic puns", if he has ever cracked a child development text, he might read that there are two groups with a strong affinity for puns: second graders and geniuses (natch, we are all in the second group!). Some of us love to murder the English language!
