FlickSig got off to a nice start in 1997. Five of us thoroughly enjoyed Woody Allens "Everyone Says I Love You," a totally delightful movie about relationships, love, heartache, and finding your soulmate written as only Woody Allen can write it and present as a .. musical! Every once in a while, the action would incorporate a musical number right out of the films of the 30s and 40s. What a treat! If you want to sit back and smile for about 100 minutes, this is the movie for you. We were pleased to have a potential member joining us. She used to belong to Mensa in LA, lapsed her membership and was thinking of rejoining the group. Hopefully, we convinced her to send in her dues and shell be an active member before long. And for any of you out there who HAVE sent in your dues and are trying to find a way to start participating, come see a movie with us. Let us know that youre a new member and we promise to make you feel at home.
After the movie, we ventured over to the Weekend Burger Madness at Minder Binders. Even after being in GPM for 3 years, this was the first time, Ive attended, but I dont think it will be the last. The group is friendly, the jokes are groaners, the food is good and reasonably priced. And if you dont like burgers, there are plenty of non-burger selections on the menu. This is also a good event to start your Mensa involvement. People wander in and out, you can jump into any conversation or just sit and listen. Whatever you do, youll be welcomed.
Hope I see you at some more events in the coming months! Meanwhile, if you attend an event youd like to tell me about, please give me a call and Ill incorporate your thoughts and reactions into this column. The more events we can tell people about, the better.
