Young At Heart

by Carol Young, LocSec

We’ve had a few changes on the ExCom this month. Janet Jared realized that her schedule was not going to permit her to participate fully in the meetings and asked to be replaced. Jason Grimm, who was the next highest vote-getter for Member-at-Large, stepped up and was appointed to the vacancy.

Pat Edwards, who purchased all those great prizes for the 1995 RG, has graciously volunteered to be our Recording Secretary. Those of us who didn’t want anything to do with taking notes, were and will remain forever grateful to Pat for coming forward. In addition to her recording secretary skill, she’ll be a very welcome addition to the ExCom.

In other GPM news: Mel Anderson has volunteered to head up a By-Laws Committee. This committee will review the by-laws under which GPM operates and update and revise as needed. If you’re interested in helping him in this task, be sure to contact him.

Bonnie Ross has volunteered to be our Gifted Children Coordinator. Contact her with your ideas or if you’d like to be involved in this important area.

And Maynard has agreed to coordinate our traditional Thanksgiving Day Salon, which we plan on holding even though we’ve moved the date of the Regional Gathering.

IMPORTANT: We’re in the process of securing a space and would like some idea of whether or not you are interested in attending this function. Please e-mail me at carolrants@been-there.com or call and leave me a message at 243-0480 and let me know if you think you might come. This doesn’t obligate you in any way, but it WILL give us an idea of how big a room we need to get.

We’re also interested in finding a new location for the Monthly Forum which will save us money that we can use in other areas. If you know of a hall, meeting room or clubhouse that we can use, please let us know. We’re looking for space that will accommodate about 75 people maximum once a month.

It’s not too early to send in your registration for Phoenix Phiesta 18 in January. See the registration form in this month’s newsletter and get your money in early to save. And if you’re interested in helping out, please contact Bill Rouse. We’ve already got a Hospitality Chair and some ideas for speakers. We’re looking for people to make phone calls and do some typing.

AND REMEMBER: the success or failure of GPM rises and falls on volunteers. You can never give too little help. Any amount of time you can spare will do some good.
