(Me, climbing off my soapbox)
Wow! While I got some phone calls from September’s editorial, I really got the response from October’s! It’s always exciting (and sometimes, very humbling) when someone writes about something in MAAM, and boy! did people write! I’ve had factual misstatements corrected, errors in my logic pointed out, and cogent disagreements in my philosophy presented. And the best part is, there were no ad hominim attacks – the letters have been courteous to a fault. That’s wonderful and, I think, an admirable reflection on the members of GPM and readership of MAAM (especially when you consider some of the vicious screeds that get sent to some other publications!).
But the soapbox is officially put away. We’ve got more exiting things happening locally than nationally at this point, so let’s go!
You may have noticed I’ve gone to a slightly smaller type size this month. We’ve received such an abundance of articles (does it have something to do with the bounty of the harvest or something????) that I don’t want you to miss a single one. If you’re old and feeble like me and have trouble reading the smaller size, let me know.
Also, I’m giving up on waiting and going to call National to ask where the most recent membership listing is, so we can get out our belated but more accurate Directory.
Finally, our RG is fast approaching! We’ve already got a good sign-up, so you’d better get your registration in fast before we get overbooked and you miss out on all the fantastic things Leigh and the rest of the RG committee are cooking up.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for disagreeing with me. Thanks for writing about it.
Your appreciative editor
