Owl Cult Karaoke was formerly conducted on the first Sunday of the month, except on a case-by-case basis. Owl Cult Karaoke will now be conducted on the same Sunday as the ExCom Meeting, which is held on the first Sunday of the month, except on a case-by-case basis, except on a case-by-case basis. Got it?

Figure it this way: Your illustrious Event Coordinator wants to pre-commit only one Sunday a month to GPM. If the ExCom Meeting and Owl Cult Karaoke are bifurcated, then I have to commit to two Sundays any time (such as in September) that the Excom Meeting is not held on the first Sunday. But if other commitments compel me to miss the ExCom Meeting (as might have happened in October), Owl Cult Karaoke will be held on a different Sunday.
