RG FRENZY |
I have spoken with three people this week who expect to attend the RG, but each time I asked if they would be staying at the hotel, they answered "Oh no, I live right here in Phoenix." Well have I got news. If you don’t stay at the hotel, you are missing half the fun of an RG! You will miss the total immersion in Mensa quality fun – to say nothing of the delight in being able to take a nap when you start flagging from stimulus overload. Or having a place to leave your coat, change clothes, fix your hair, brush your teeth, stash some prizes. If you go home every night you waste all that travel time, and once you get there you find mail to go through, a load of laundry that can get thrown in, phone messages to listen to and answer, and before you know it you’ve missed a couple of great speakers and a lot of camaraderie. Loosen up, the price is right!
Great news! Children will be half price at this RG. Mensa is becoming more aware that our children are the next generation of Mensa and some of us are more eager to welcome families with children to events like this. We will even have a special joke session for them. I just thought that our Joke-offs get a little too raw for kids. If you stay at the hotel with your children, you can take turns baby-sitting with other families. I must commend the parenting skills of the families I know in GPM. Your children are as well behaved as mine were and I can’t praise you enough. I must hasten to admit that my children used their Sunday manners in public.
Alan Gore is our Registrar and has also offered to do our graphics, but I fear that I am overworking him. Is there someone who can lend a hand with the graphics if Al gets overloaded? He also needs some help manning the Registration desk on Friday and Saturday. My number is 264 9321 and Al’s is 863 9648. Ken Brown can also use some help with Security by a few folks with cellular phones who can do a little patrolling while they are having fun. His number is 967 4241.
