The Other Bill’s Not So Strenuous Hiking Group

by Bill Taylor

Well, the weather’s beginning to cool off, so it’s time to start enjoying the great outdoors again. The hike will be in the morning of Saturday the 24th. My first hike of the season will be an easy one, but one of my favorites. Fat Man’s Pass in South Mountain Park is not too difficult, and only about two or three miles round trip. Other than the other people on the trail, it’s hard to believe that the city surrounds you, when all you can see is nature. If the weather has been wet, there might even be a waterfall to see.

Wear comfortable shoes, and bring drinking water. Either meet at my house, 1133 W. Cornell Dr., Tempe at 8:00 AM, to carpool to the trailhead, or be at the trailhead at the end of Pima Canyon Road, at the east end of South Mountain Park, by 8:30 AM. If enough people are interested, we can have brunch at a local restaurant afterwards. Call me at 897-0803 for details.
