Balloting - The Official Word

Section 2 -- Newsletter Election Information

D. Each candidate may submit a statement of candidacy, along with a photograph, to be published in the June issue of the newsletter.

E. Submissions by candidates must conform to the Election Committee guidelines.

Section 3 -- Elections

A. Elections shall be held annually by secret ballot, and such balloting shall close no later than June 10 of the election year. Mailed ballots must be postmarked no later than the close of balloting.

The ballot AND campaign statements need to be submitted to the newsletter editor by May 13th.

B. The Election Committee shall prepare an official Ballot to be published in the June issue of the newsletter. The June newsletter shall be sent to all members in good standing, including additional family members who normally do not receive one, and shall be mailed at least two (2) weeks before June 10 of the election year. If no newsletter is produced for June, the ballot shall be mailed separately to each member at the member’s last known address at least two (2) weeks before June 10. The date the balloting closes shall be clearly specified on the ballot. Each member’s membership number and signature must be placed on that member’s ballot envelope in order to validate the ballot.

In extenuating circumstances, a member in good standing may vote on other than the official ballot, and with written explanation included with the signature, it may be accepted as official by unanimous vote of the Election Committee provided the instructions for submission of the official ballot are followed and the cause for submission is deemed legitimate by the Election Committee.
