Corby's Corner

by Jerry Corbin

Greater Phoenix Mensa recently filled two important Committee Chair positions. The first position filled was the newly created GPM Historian position. Alan Gore was appointed to fill this new position. Allan is now compiling photo’s, articles, old MAAM’s, and other historical material of interest to GPM members. If you have relevant material, please let Allan know. Allan will draw upon his extensive computer and Internet experience to make an electronic database of GPM historical material. This material will be made available to GPM members (only) in a convenient yet secure electronic form.
The second position filled was the Publicity Chair position which recently became open. We appreciate the past fine publicity efforts of Ellen Diana which contributed to the success of GPM. After some searching, Steve Broe was appointed to fill the open position. We are fortunate to have a volunteer with the experience and skills of Steve Broe to fill this important GPM Publicity role. Contact Steve if you have any publicity ideas or needs.

Steve and Allan are representative of the fine volunteers that form the backbone of Greater Phoenix Mensa. Without these volunteers, GPM could not function as an organization. And there are other slots that need to be filled including Membership, Community Outreach, and Scholarship Chairs. If you have any interest in any of these positions (or if you just want to find out more information) please contact me or any Executive Committee member. By volunteering, not only are you performing a valuable service, but it can dramatically enrich your experience of GPM and Mensa.

Speaking of volunteers...
Don’t forget that John Seeliger and Stevie Crowley, our RG co-chairs, are actively looking for volunteers to support the upcoming GPM RG in January 2001. Also Carol Young, our AG Chair, is looking to fill many organizational slots for the upcoming Phoenix based 2002 Annual Gathering. Please contact John, Stevie, or Carol if you want to participate in the planning and supporting of these unique events.
