ExComm Meeting Minutes

By Jerry Corbin

April 2, 2000

Present were Board members Mel Anderson, Carol Young, Meg Kelleher, Bruce Stiles, Mike Johnson, Jerry Corbin, Stevie Crowley and Carolyn Robinson. Also present were Kebba Buckley, John Seeliger and Glenn Case. Mel called the meeting to order at 12:12 p.m.

The minutes of the past two Board meetings were approved with the changes that 1) the proper spelling of the monthly newsletter is MAAM, 2) Kebba Buckley did not say in the March meeting that the National Mensa Membership Committee was discussing some family rates and incentives, but rather that a family membership month was being discussed, and 3) that although Mike Johnson and Laura Oliveira were excused at the February Board meeting, they were not excused to be together.

Stevie Crowley and John Seeliger announced to the grateful Board that they were willing to be Chairs for the 2001 R.G. as they were this year. At a debriefing meeting held recently, they received positive and constructive feedback and are looking forward to an even better R.G. They have spoken with the Howard Johnson hotel, at which this year’s gathering was held, wants to work with our group again. As in past years, the program chairs will serve again and others have volunteered to assist.

The North Valley Coordinator, Bylaws Chair, and Parliamentarian positions are still open.

Carol Young, Chair of the 2002 A.G. meeting reported that our site has been offiically approved by National Mensa and she was still fiddling with getting the checking account stabilized. National liaison Rose Lee Crutcher is planning on coming out in May to meet with the steering committee.

Glenn Case, the new MAAM editor, announced that he had received the software, which Mel was able to get at a deep discount over the internet and that he and Stevie had worked on the April issue and he would go it on his own in May. The annual membership directory and candidate statements/election ballots inclusion in the newsletter was discussed as extra pages cost extra money and the bylaws and tradition mandate that these additions occur at this time of the year. Mel and Glenn will decide on what issues to place what information.
