I want to say something very simple and off the cuff: if you have never been to an RG or an AG, you have missed something really neat. I have been to several, and while they are all different, they always present a program that you will simply find no other place. We advertise RG’s in the local newsletters because those of us who have been to them always get something unique out of the experience. We want you to have the opportunity to have this experience as well.
The programs you will find at an RG are always something out of the ordinary. Everything from how to make pottery to how to better make love. People into things you may not have realized people are in to. Some may well not be your cup of tea. Good enough, there will be something else that is. All are geared to the wide variety of interests of the highly intelligent.
You will meet people you would not otherwise have the opportunity to meet. Some Mensans are as interesting as a mud fence (to some people,) but I can guarantee you that you will meet many people at an RG who you will find very interesting and to your taste.
RG’s are very cheap entertainment. Read the ad in this month's MAAM and judge for yourself. It is not going to cost you any arm and a leg. I really hope you will consider attending our RG in January.
I had one other comment I wanted to make. Our Calendar generally goes together with few problems. Recently, we have had a couple of glitches that I want to clear up. In short, what we want to do is a “system re-boot.” That is, to request all Calendar entries be verified by actually submitting them for the December MAAM even if they are stable regular events. See Joni's column for more detail.
