PROGRAMS FOR 2001 RG "PHLIGHTS OF PHANCY |
I am pleased to report that the program for the 2001 RG is beginning to take tentative shape. Several people who presented popular programs last year have unofficially agreed to return in 2001. They include: the show tune/light Opera singer, Play-Dough Pictionary, the Fishbowl, the Magic Class, and Promote Your Own Business. We plan to contact still other popular speakers from the 2000 RG and see if they will be willing to join us again in 2001.
In addition we have a few interesting speakers lined up. Among them are: the marketing manager from a large chain of "adult stores" talking about sex toys, an internationally know Native American speaker talking on some aspect of Indian lore and customs, and a woman who has turned her abilityto make delicious brownies into a thriving business. She gives samples.
In years past great programs have come from recommendations of the members. Please, if you have a speaker that you believe would be of interest to other Mensans, please contact us.
To fill out the program, we have made initial contact with several speakers from ASU who are prepared to speak about a variety of topics. Thus far, the topics include, in no special order: forensic anthropology, Picasso, right/left brain, plant pain, artificial intelligence, courtship, Rock and Roll dances, teaching peace, gifted education, Shakespeare, entrepreneurship, human evolution and the fossil record, investments, human growth project, Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemming, body language, flirting, computer art and photography, creating web pages, power, influence and control: who has it and how to get it, science fiction as literature, Phoenix news media, Dr. Fun: 6 steps to happiness, Paris
Impressionist, the Greater Phoenix Writing Project, political tricks, self actualization and talent development, hiking in Arizona technology and the future, the Hubbell telescope, co-dependency, contemporary drama, and short story writing methods.
We would appreciate input about any of the suggested topics you think you might find interesting. Best way to reach us is Pat Edwards at patandray@earthlink.net or 480-777-2502 and/or Jerry Corbin at
jcorbin@primenet.com or 602-438-0958. If possible, we prefer e-mail.
See you in January.
