Some of their reasons their doing for doing so may strike a chord for you . . . been an active member going back 20 years . . . . finally managed a transfer back . . . . I needed to converse with intelligent people . . . . also wanted to again belong to a vital organization

Here are some excerpts from some new member profile forms:

R. Austin McEntyre is a retired librarian & air traffic controller with a BA in engineering and Master of Library and Information Science. He has a 25 year old daughter and recently relocated from the deep South.

Heather Balzer is a project manager with a BA in Psychology from UofA. She and her husband live in Scottsdale and she is excited to meet new people and see what Mensa has to offer.

Scott Bristol is looking for an opportunity to meet new, interesting people. His pastimes include reading, weightlifting and getting outside.

Lynne Powers is a retired attorney, BA & JD with 4 adult children. She moved here from San Diego and was immediately recruited as our new Community Action Chair. She originally joined Mensa because the attorney she was working with was a member and used to "brag" about his status. She joined basically to shut him up and has met many fascinating folks as a result.

Vishal Chaurasia, MD, MBBS, joined because he attended a Phoenix RG and enjoyed the pleasant company. He felt a desire to belong to this group of people and open a regional chapter to encourage gifted children in Safford. His interests include sports cars, computers, relationships, movies, music and weightlifting.

Mason Helmintoller is a retired widower with a BSAE degree. He joined for friendships, curiosity as well as nothing in particular.

John A Higginbotham, Jr., is married with 2 children. He is looking to see what possibilities exist within the organization and joined partly due to curiosity.

What an interesting microcosm of our 834 member group. I only wish I could meet each of them, as well as the other 600 or so yet to cross my path. Look for their names in the directory in the June issue, as well as your own (if you had renewed by the cutoff in April.
