Membership Party
As you learned from the article on the front cover, GPM will be throwing a
major membership party on November 3rd. The last time we did this,
about150 members and guests showed up. So, not only will this party be a lot
of fun, but it will be an excellent way to meet a lot of local GPM members that
you might not normally get a chance to meet otherwise. New members are especially
encouraged to come out and meet fellow GPM members.
Entertainment Books for Sale
Each year GPM sells Entertainment Books to raise money for GPM activities and
to provide our members a convenient way to save money. The coupons in the Entertainment
Books can save you big bucks when dining out or participating in other fun activities
at local establishments. And occasionally GPM holds activities that are published
in our Calendar that provides members a special reason to take advantage of some
of the coupons. So if you are interested in having some fun, saving some money,
and helping GPM a little financially call Meg Kelleher at (602) 277-6026
to buy the books or if you have questions.
Mensa National Testing Day
Once each year Mensa makes a special effort to invite as many prospects as possible
to take the Mensa qualifying exam during the Mensa National Testing Day (NTD).
In the past years NTD has been a big success at both the national and local level.
This year Mensa’s NTD was about a month earlier than normal and was held on October
20th. And for the first time, GPM offered teens and students a special
discount as an incentive to get more young people involved in Mensa. I will report
the results of GPM’s NTD next month.
Monthly Forum
As we expected, healthy controversy erupted during the discussion on the threats
of unchecked U.S. population growth and also the effects of our Immigration Policies.
Many different opinions were expressed, some with more than a modicum of passion.
We appreciate the efforts of GPM member SuSu Levy in leading the sometimes-heated
discussions. Almost 30 people attended the Forum and participated in the discussion
that resulted. And about half of the Forum attendees continued the discussions
over good food and drink at the Post Forum Debriefing.
GPM Growth
GPM membership continues to grow. We added 10 members in the last reported month
and now stand at 760 members.
