Candidate Bio: Bob Cox

Bob Cox joined Mensa in New Zealand 26 years ago and has been active in leadership positions most of that time. Bob served on the New Zealand National Committee for four years as National Membership Officer and Mensa Selection Agent (similar to National Testing Coordinator). He also chaired the Mensa World Congress there in 1983. Upon migrating to America and settling in San Francisco he soon became involved and served for 2 1/2 years as SIGHT Coordinator and then as Assistant LocSec. He was also Registrar for an SF RG and for Asilomar. Bob served for two terms as RVC of Region 8.

Bob then moved to Arizona and became a member of Borderline Mensa. He soon took on the job of Editor and the newsletter won an Owl Award. He then was elected LocSec and led the group to two Group of the Year Awards. Bob is currently in his second term as RVC Region 9.
Bob has always endeavored to do the business of Mensa without being political. He always tries to do what is best for Mensa, for the Local Groups and for each member. As one person said in comments to the NomComm ”Bob puts a person behind each name tag”.

Bob sees the importance of training our leaders and has conducted five Leadership Development Workshops (or LOTS) including three full Regional weekends in the last three years. During his time as RVC9 he has attended every RG in the region and presented an RVC  Rap Session at each. Bob takes his responsibilities seriously.

The responsibilities of the Second Vice Chairman are basically determined by the Chairman. Bob will work well with whoever is elected Chairman but his aim will not be to please the Chairman but to do what he feels is best for Mensa and its members.
