Mensa Forum, Friday, November 9,  2001, 7:00 p.m., Pyle Adult Center

(Next to Tempe Library at Southwest corner of Rural and Southern.   At the corner of Rural and Southern turn West about half a block and turn South into the Civic Complex. )

“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another which states that this has already happened.” - Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

Kevin Healy, ASU Physics and Astronomy Department, will present the story of the Universe as formulated by physics and astronomy. He will start with the heady days of the Big Bang and end with the current state of our Solar System, 14 billion years of history crammed into an hour.  He will also touch upon the latest cosmological discoveries to hit the news such as dark matter, dark energy, the accelerating universe, changing physical constants and other seemingly nonsensical concepts.    Mensa Forum Coordinator; MikeJohnson@home.com, Tel. 602-956-0180
