Shoestring Gourmet: The Unsinkable Ursula Gore |
On Saturday, June 9, Ursula and I will host the first event to be held at our newly restored home, salvaged from the raging waters that almost destroyed it last March. Our Shoestring Gourmet theme for June will be, appropriately, the food served on the Titanic on its single voyage in the spring of 1912. We’ll have recipes for fare plain and fancy, served on the actual china that State Farm’s dive team rescued from our home.
The information available on what the folks aboard the Titanic ate is considerable. There is canapés a lAmiral, asparagus salad with champagne-saffron vinaigrette, creamed carrots, Calvados-glazed roast duckling with applesauce, and punch Romaine. In one dinner sitting, we’ll savor the cuisine of a bygone era.
Please call us at 602-863-9648 not before Monday, June 4. We’ll be getting together at 6 p. m. on the sixth.
