Minutes of GPM Meeting 4/1/01
Present were Jerry Corbin, Mike Johnson, Carolyn Robinson, Carol Young, Laura Oliveira, Bruce Stiles and Glenn Case. Absent was Meg Kelleher, Secretary. The meeting was called to order at 12:20 p.m. The agenda was approved.
Carol Young, 2002 AG Chair noted the need for volunteers to commit now and requested a loan of $2000 from the GPM to cover expenses until revenue starts coming in from registration after July 9. The motion to transfer the money was passed by the Board. She is working on a logo and a back cover design for our AG ad which will run on the 2001 AG program.
Carolyn Robinson, Member at Large, announced she will be attending the 2001 MindGames in Cleveland, Ohio April 20-22. Glenn Case, MAAM editor said he is trying to eliminate making two trips to the printer each month to review and pick up the newsletter and requested up to $35 monthly to pay for a delivery service. The motion passed.
Laura Oliveira, Treasurer, told the Board we have $7397.32 in the bank account as of March 31, 2001. Bruce Stiles noted that he has Forum speakers lined up through July, including those on the Papago Park POW’s, Conflict Resolution Management, and the electricity shortage.
Jerry Corbin, LocSec, announced that he had appointed Carol Young to be Member at Large and Bruce Stiles as Assistant LocSec to fill the positions vacated when Stevie Crowley and John Seeliger abdicated their posts prior to the end of the elected period. He also discussed ways to get local members active and to solicit new Board members. He has requested leadership manuals from National Mensa as resource information. Finally, he announced that in a contest among Sand Diego, Orange County and Phoenix to see who would gain the most members before June 30, Phoenix was currently ahead.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:05 p.m.
