Welcome to the New Millennium |
Unless you are a multi-year or life member you will have received a renewal notice. I encourage you to pay your dues in January. This will save the expense of having to send you reminder notices and this helps to keep our dues down. Paying in January also gives your Local Group double points in the Group Of The Year contest. If you fail to renew by the end of March, your group will not get any GOTYA points and will not get the monthly payment from National until you do, and you will not be able to vote in the National Election. Remember, you can now renew your membership by phone with a credit card.
I have just returned from the December AMC meeting. It was another long meeting. We passed (and failed) a lot of motions. Perhaps the strangest one was, on the advice of counsel, we are not to create compound words out of the word Mensa, such as Mensaloha and Mensabuck unless it is authorized by the Name and Logo Committee. We are going to try approving the AMC minutes by e-mail rather than at the following meeting, so that the membership can have access to them sooner. We also nominated several people for the International Mensa elections.
Sally Banko was appointed RVC2 to replace Steve Slepner. Sally then resigned, as Leadership Development Coordinator but will work with us for the Region 9 LDW next month. The new coordinator is Joanna Soper who will be moving into our region (Borderline Mensa) at the beginning of June.
