RVC Report |
I write this just prior to leaving for the IBD meeting in Budapest. Of course, by the time this gets to you it will be all over. That is, with luck it will be all over. I suspect the meeting will be lively and long, ouch!!
Again, Region 9 has had some officer changes. In Southern Nevada Mensa, Carol Moran will assume the reins from Judy Jetter as President/LocSec. In Borderline Mensa, Arizona, our most prodigious volunteer, Bob Cox, is back at the helm now that Doug Miller has served out his term. Also in Borderline, Lucy St. John has taken over as Editor from Diane Scott. Welcome aboard!! We hope to see all the outgoing officers moving in to other committee positions in the near future.
I was so proud of my coup in Inland Empire by appointing i.e. co-editor Don Beatty as the Regional Postal Advisor. Tyger Gilbert, our National Publications Officer, was so impressed with Don’s expertise that Don is now our National Postal Advisor. He is a fantastic resource on the best way to maximize your postage dollars and how to get through the maze of paperwork that the government is so proud of. Send him an e-mail at iqoutlaw@uia.net for the best advice in town.
In GLAAM, Jerry Hollombe has been appointed to one of our national committees [which one?]. We have so many committees there is surely one that was just made for your interest or expertise. Few of them require much more than some on-line rapping with your counterparts about how we can all make Mensa work better for us. All of our best ideas originate within these committees. Your AMC is appreciative of this work and pays close attention to the recommendations in the committee reports. If YOU want to make changes, these committees are your avenues to being heard.
Do you have publicity questions? The national office is available to help you maximize your group’s publicity efforts. If you have any questions about public relations, give them a call. They can give you an up-to-date list of media personnel in your area. The Marketing Department is interested in learning about your publicity efforts and would love to hear your ideas! They would also like to know if you see Mensa mentioned in the news. Please clip it and send it to them.
Cheers,
Barbara
