Mensa presents many unique opportunities for its members.  As you look through this issue there are many things for you to consider.

Our Forums continue to be among the best.  The speakers we choose are unique in comparison to many similar organizations.  Our Forum this month is no exception.  The matter of how people develop symptoms we call “mental illness” is a continuing point of debate among professionals.

Then we have many social gatherings every month.  Our Salons always have about 50 interesting conversations going on with plenty of food and drink.  By the way, I will throw something in quickly for the benefit of our newer members.  Dress is generally casual at most Mensa functions.  You can dress up if you want to, but it generally is not required.

We have Rocky Point coming up which is an opportunity to “get away”  with other intelligent people.  Peruse our Calendar.  Something is going on all the time to suit almost any interest.

I  for one, like hikes.  It is darn good exercise and also a way to have some good conversation along the way.  Also, consider coming  to an Ex-Com meeting.  Any member is welcome and you can get a good idea of what is going on “behind the lines.”  It is a good opportunity to see if there is something where you might want to become involved.

Then note the Regional Gatherings (or RG’s).   If you have not been to an RG, you have missed a wonderful opportunity to take an inexpensive vacation and have the opportunity to hear many excellent speakers.  There are two advertised in this issue you may want to consider.  Then, of course, we have our grand gathering held once a year:  the Annual Gathering or AG.  This in particular is a way to have a wonderful time at very little expense.  Consider becoming involved.  There are a lot of jobs available that range all the way from something that will take little of your time to an opportunity to put in some effort with a lot of reward.

Mensa is a good organization.  I invite you to take advantage of it.
