I mentioned this last month, but it is worth repeating. Do consider running for office in Greater Phoenix Mensa.
In many Mensa Local Groups, you tend to find a lot of the same people involved. Either on the Executive Committee Board or in other areas. For that reason, many people, and newer members in particular, sometimes feel that Mensa is run by an “inner clique” that is hard to break in to. That is not true. Mensa is a very simple organization to become involved with. Just step forward and ask. Even if you run in a contested race and lose the first time around, the chances are excellent that you will either be appointed later on to fill a vacancy or be elected the next time around.
Greater Phoenix Mensa in particular represents a lot of opportunity for assuming
positions of leadership. Many of the folks who have been in the chapter for
some time have already held many different offices and would like to see new
blood become involved. So give it some consideration. We are the 14th
or so largest chapter in the United States and we have a lot going on.
The other item I wanted to mention is that Greg Webster, our Proctor would
like some help in administrating the tests given to prospective members. As
Greg points out in his article, it is an excellent way to sell Mensa since you
will be one of the first people many prospective members will meet.
There are also several jobs still open for AG that is coming up. If you are interested in participating, drop a line to Carol Young.
