Our June issue of the MAAM will contain
the Membership Directory. As before, it will list your last and first name,
mailing address and phone number. It will include the first-last name directory.
If you do not want to be listed in the Directory, please let me know either by
email or regular mail. (I prefer you not to call because telephone calls may
get misplaced.) Several people have indicated that they do not want their email
address in the directory so that information will not be included.
A question that was debated back and forth was that of putting the Membership
Directory on line. The original intent was that the Directory could be kept
more up to date and might be easier to use. The problem that arose is that
the web site is accessible by anyone and many people do not care for their name
and association with Mensa to be made that public. We considered putting the
Directory under a password that would appear in the MAAM. To make a long story
short, it was finally decided that there was no compelling reason to have it
on line in the first place. So it will continue to be put out in hard copy
form once a year, but not be available on line.
Please take a quick look at the Masthead (page 2.) If anything needs
to be corrected or if there are any additions, let me know. You
will note the biographies of some of the persons running for office for the next
year. I encourage you to vote, but for an additional reason. In the June issue,
I will include along with the ballot an evaluation sheet for the MAAM. This is
the main way I get feedback from those of you who I do not meet in the course
of Mensa events and your input is important to see that the MAAM satisfies your
needs. So please take the time to fill out the ballot and the questionnaire.
