From the Editor: New calendar Goddess

by Glenn Case

We have a new Calendar Goddess.   She is Karen Bauernschmidt and as it turns out her picture appears in conjunction with an article she wrote over on page 12.  She is the person who put the AG document together and comes with lots of experience in publishing.  Her first assignment with this month’s Calendar was done superbly and, at that, is one of the biggest Calendars we have had for a while.  So lets welcome her aboard!

I want to take this opportunity to extend a genuine note of thanks to Joni Pourchot, who was our Calendar Goddess for the past three years.

I would like to emphasize the importance of getting material to Karen so it reaches her by the deadline which is the COB on the 12th of the month.  We now have a simple to remember email address for this, GPMCalendar@yahoo.com.   Practically all of our material for the MAAM in general and the Calendar in particular now comes in via email.  If it is necessary to mail something by snail mail, be sure she gets it in time.

To briefly review this procedure, Karen collects the Calendar entries and compiles them into a file which she then sends over to me.  I  will make any last minute corrections.  The Calendar is then typeset into the MAAM.  At this point it is exported  back out into a new file and this file is sent by email to everyone who made a contribution for final review.  It is quite important that you as a contributor do two things:  first to check that your entry is correct.  If it is, no response is required.  Otherwise to indicate your corrections.  If you did not receive this review copy by COB  of the 16th of the month, to quickly let me know that you did not receive it.  This could happen if you sent something in and it got lost in the shuffle.  That is quite unlikely, but it can happen.  If these procedures are all followed, there should be no incorrect or missing entries.

Because our Calendar is getting bigger, beginning next month it will be presented both as it is now as well as a summary that will quickly identify among other things those events of a regular nature.
