Beware: Computer Hoax!

You get an email often times from a friend who tells you that your computer may be infected with a new virus. The idea is that you search for some file. If you find it, to immediately delete it and then warn all your friends. You are told that anti-virus software cannot detect this virus. Problem is that you end up deleting a valid and needed system file on your computer. While anti-virus software is not perfect, the chances are remote that you will get something in the mail about a virus that they have never heard of. Bottom line, the letter is most likely a hoax and your anti-virus software is probably working fine.
