B-9  RVC Report

Wow!  This has certainly been the month for a rousing game of musical editors!  In Utah, we have Paula Klieves picking up the pen.  Arizona’s Borderline Mensa’s new quillmaster is Frank Edward Keyes, Jr.  In San Diego, Bill Decker (former member of Orange County Mensa) is wielding the blue pencil, and Merv Meyer has inked-in at Harbor Area Mensa.  All of our former editors have worked hard to train their replacements.  A hearty “Well done!” to all of you.

Not only has Merv Meyer signed on as editor, he will again represent us as the Region 9 Scholarship Chairman—and his lovely bride Julia has stepped in as Harbor Area LocSec.

Do you know how much material is available to you on the American Mensa website? Go to www.us.mensa.org.  Included on the website each month is InterLoc, and minutes from past AMC meetings, agendas, and officer reports for upcoming meetings.  Only the local group member data information is not included on the web.  Check it out.

The Internet Services Committee has added four new members from our Region to the Content Advisory Team.  Kevin Ross and Jackie Abrams from San Diego, Kevin Igo from Phoenix, and Joanna Soper from Borderline.  The Technical Advisory Team has added Jerry Hollombe from Greater Los Angeles.

The National Office is there to help you maximize your group’s publicity efforts.  If you have any questions about public relations, please give them a call.  They can also give you an up-to-date list of media personnel in your area.  The Marketing Department is interested in learning about your public relations efforts and would love to hear your ideas.  They would also like to know if you see Mensa mentioned in the news.

The National Nominating Committee is fleshing out very nicely.  We now have eight of our 12 groups represented.  Stephen Fisher will handle the job for Hawaii, and Carole Moran will do the same for Southern Nevada.  Let these fine folks know who you would like to see serving you on the AMC.

Speaking of the AMC, bring your questions, suggestions and concerns to the RVC “Rap Session” at the San Diego Mensa RG over Memorial Day weekend.  I love rapping with you, and you will love the hospitality, games, shows, speakers and all of your favorite Mensans at this very popular gathering.  See you there!

Cheers, Barbara
