More new editors come aboard this month!

A huge welcome to Grant Gutermuth of Hawaii, and Jaye Black in Orange County, with very big (size 5˝?) shoes to fill.  GLAAM has a new LocSec this month in the form of Brian Bloch, and Deb Stone is now LocSec for Orange County.  Thank you all for volunteering for these very large and important jobs, and big thanks to the outgoing officers for all their hard work, too.     Did I tell you that I am the International Coordinator for Mensa WorldConnect?  It used to be called MensaMate.  You may have seen articles in the Mensa Bulletin or the InterLoc about this program.  It’s a program that pairs cities/groups around the world with “sister” cities or groups.  You share experiences and information, newsletters, and maybe even visit one another.  Wouldn’t your editor appreciate more material for your newsletter from another Mensa group, your “sister” Mensa?

Matches can be made to fit whatever criteria your group chooses:  size, hobbies, a geographical aspect—it’s your choice.  Your Local Group decides the connection.  How about picking a country or city from which the first pioneer or settler to your local group area came?

Benjamin Boa, the American Mensa WorldConnect coordinator, has worked hard to make this program available, and he can be easily reached at mensaworldconnect@us.mensa.org or (770) 924-6916.  Present the idea to your Local Group or present it again if you already have.  Please remember to share with Benjamin your experiences.  Feedback is ALWAYS good.

A fantastic plus to having the AG in our region is that most of us can drive to Phoenix and avoid the expense and hassle of air travel.  (You HAVE already registered for the AG, haven’t you?) I will be there from Monday through Monday in order to take advantage of all the tours the AG committee has planned for us.  I’ll be going to Mexico and the Grand Canyon and a few more trips, besides.  Join me—we’ll have a blast!

Cheers,
Barbara
