Your ExCom is hard at work to make this the best chapter possible!

So without further ado, here’s what’s going on in your friendly neighborhood GPM:

Talkin’ About the Forum.  We acquired a lightweight, portable 3M overhead projector for the Forum.  This will save us about $240 in rental fees a year, plus give us a dedicated machine for the RG, as well as any other events with presentations.  Also, the Forum is going to have to leave Pyle in 2003, as they have decided to start closing at 5 P.M. in Fridays starting 1/1/03.  So we are busy looking for a new location!

Talkin’ About the RG.  Mel Anderson is busy researching a possible RG on MLK weekend in January 2003, but if we can’t get a good location, we may be pushing it back further into 2003.  We’ll be using up some of that infamous wine at this event!

Talkin’ About the Wine.  We’ve been getting rid of it a steady pace.  We have set aside some for the 2003 RG, as well as for the inaugural Trivia Night we are working on for November.  We’re down to mostly types of red wine, and what’s left is available to members and SIGs at $6 per box or $20 per case, and free to official events like Salons, FSM, etc.

Talkin’ About Trivia Nights.  We’re planning to start holding a Trivia Night in November modeled after St. Louis’ very successful event.  Not only will this generate some $$$, but it’s also good publicity.  This will be a competition that is open to the public.  The admission should be around $15, and we hope to field a couple of Mensa teams.  The idea is to advertise it as a “Beat the Mensans” kind of event, along with lots of cool prizes that we hope to get donated by local businesses.

Talkin’ About the AG Heroes.  We’ve got the plans for an AG Volunteer Appreciation party rolling for October.  We’re going to be putting on the dog for our intrepid volunteers because they worked like dogs for GPM at the AG!

Talkin’ About New Events.  We’re bringing back the Soirees on the first Saturday of the month in October, Lin Sinclair has stepped up to be our official “Fun Maven” (see the Calendar for her kick off meeting), and I’ll be inviting GPM to join me for the theater season this year (see related article on page X).

Talkin’ About Volunteers.  We’ve lots in the works for this.  From detailed descriptions of duties, new positions and we’re actively recruiting assistants for all positions to create some depth in our skill base.  I’ll go into much more detail on this topic next month!
